Survey of Performance Audit clients
Summary
- 94 performance audit clients were invited
to participate in the survey and 76 responded. This is a response
rate of 81 per cent.
- VAGO requests feedback in three areas:
audit process, audit reporting and audit value. The overall score
is an average of the result for these three areas.

Audit process
Highlights include perceptions of:
- the auditors' professional interaction with their staff during
the audit (81.6 per cent)
- the clear explanation of audit approach (80.0 per cent).
The lowest scoring question was:
- the perception of an adequate understanding of the organisation
and its operating environment.
Audit reporting
Highlights include perceptions of having:
- adequate opportunity to comment on the audit findings and
issues before finalisation of the report (83 per cent).
The lowest scoring reporting question was:
- the perception that the final report
presented the audit findings and issues in an accurate and balanced
and fair manner. Some of the feedback received indicated that the
agencies would have liked more positive findings to be included in
the report.
Audit value
- 56 per cent agreed that the audit offered
value through its assurance on the performance and accountability
of the audited activity.
- 66 per cent agreed that the findings and
recommendations had the potential to improve the administration of
the audited activity or similar activities.
