Des Pearson

Mr Pearson was appointed Auditor-General of Victoria on 1 October 2006. He was previously Auditor-General of Western Australia (1991-2006).

Mr Pearson commenced his public service career in 1970 as a graduate Cadet Auditor with the Commonwealth Australian Auditor-General’s Office and progressed through a range of field auditor positions in Brisbane and Canberra to become Chief Auditor, Northern Territory Region in 1976.

From 1979 to 1988 he worked with the Australian Department of Primary Industries and Energy as Assistant Secretary, Corporate Resources and later as Senior Assistant Director with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service of that Department.

Mr Pearson was the Associate Director, Corporate Services with the Canberra Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1991. During that period he acted for extended periods as Director of the Institute.

Mr Pearson has been an involved member of CPA Australia, the Institute of Public Administration and the Australian Institute of Management having served all three bodies as WA President and at National Board level. He was CPA Australia's National President in 2001. He was elected a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration in 2002 and a Life Member of CPA Australia in 2003.

He was a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 1997-2000 and Convenor of the Australasian Council of Auditors General from 1997-1999.

He is currently a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board.

Mr Pearson is a Life Member and Fellow of CPA Australia, a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Peter Frost commenced as Chief Operating Officer on 22 January 2007.

His has extensive public sector management experience, gained primarily in the Victorian public sector and with the Commonwealth Secretariat. He has also worked with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank on civil service and public sector reform programs.

Mr Frost has held senior executive level positions since 1989 and was Head, Office of Public Sector Management in the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet from 1992-95, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Resources) at RMIT from 1995-99, and as Special Adviser (Public Sector Reform) with the Commonwealth Secretariat from 2001-04.

Most recently, he has been with the Department of Premier and Cabinet as Director, Tsunami Reconstruction Project where he has been responsible for the development and delivery of reconstruction projects principally in Sri Lanka, in conjunction with international non-government organisations, government agencies and donors with an approximate value of $25 million.

Prior to his executive roles he undertook and led a number of organisational and industry reviews in the education, transport, gaming and sports areas.
