The report summarises the results of
audits of around 460 public sector agencies, including all
government departments, local governments and most other
agencies.
The report notes a reduction in the
number of qualified audit opinions issued (from 11 in 2004-05, to 9
in 2005-06), as well as an overall improvement in the timeliness of
financial reporting (with 85 per cent of agencies meeting the
statutory 12-week reporting deadline, compared with 80 per cent in
2004-05).
