Reports published in 1997

The following reports were tabled in the Victorian State Parliament by the Auditor-General. They contain the findings of performance audits and audits of financial statements, as well as a report on the finances of the state. All reports are prepared under the authority of the Audit Act 1994, and are tabled in Parliament.

Victoria's multi-agency approach to emergency services: A focus on public safety

Tabled 4 December 1997: This report documents the results of an audit examination of a major government project involving development and implementation of a multiagency computerised calltaking and dispatch system under an outsourcing arrangement with Intergraph, a private sector entity.  (655kb pdf )

 

Schools of the Future: Valuing accountability

Tabled 2 December 1997: The audit was directed at assessing whether the Schools of the Future Accountability Framework was an effective mechanism for assisting in evaluating and improving school performance, including student learning outcomes.  (400kb pdf)

 
Victorian Rural Ambulance Services: Fulfilling a vital community need

Tabled 11 November 1997: This report focuses on the principal emerging factors impacting upon the Victorian rural ambulance services as they strive for continuous improvement to the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.  (265kb pdf )

 

Metropolitan Ambulance Service: Fulfilling a vital community need 

Tabled 11 November 1997: This audit assessed the extent to which the Metropolitan Ambulance Service was achieving its objectives particularly in regard to its ability to respond rapidly to emergency situations, deliver skilled medical services in its role as a first point of contact for Victoria’s health care network and provide nonemergency

Report of the Auditor-General on the Victorian Government's Finances, 1996-97

Tabled 11 November 1997: The report on the Government's Annual Financial Statement for the year ended 30 June 1997 outlines the results of the annual audit of the Statement, including an analysis of the operating result achieved in the year and the State's assets and liabilities at year-end, together with the privatisation of government business enterprises and the sale of surplus and underutilised properties.  (580kb pdf)

 

Ministerial Portfolios Report

Tabled 14 May 1997: The Report on Ministerial Portfolios mainly contains matters identified from financial audits conducted by the Victorian Auditor-General's Office for the year 1995-96.  (1.1mb pdf)

     

Metropolitan Ambulance Service: Contractual and outsourcing practices

Tabled 23 April 1997: This report raises many concerns about the probity of contractual and outsourcing arrangements at the Metropolitan Ambulance Service over the period April 1993 to March 1995.   (120kb pdf)

     

Major civic projects: Work in progress

Tabled 10 April 1997: This audit focussed on 4 publicly-funded major civic projects, namely: Melbourne Exhibition Centre; Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre; Regent Theatre refurbishment; and State Library Redevelopment. The audit addressed whether a sound framework had been established to prioritise projects in line with Government policy objectives. The audit also addressed whether the selected projects had been effectively managed and had met expected outcomes.  (875kb pdf)
