Reports published in 1998

The following reports were tabled in the Victorian State Parliament by the Auditor-General. They contain the findings of performance audits and audits of financial statements, as well as a report on the finances of the state. All reports are prepared under the authority of the Audit Act 1994, and are tabled in Parliament.

Acute health services under casemix: A case of mixed priorities Tabled 12 May 1998: The overall objective of this audit was to assess whether certain aspects of acute health services funded under casemix have been managed by the Department of Human Services, health care networks and public hospitals in an effective manner. Child care and kindergartens: Caring about quality Tabled 8 April 1998: The overall objectives of the audit were to determine whether: suitable planning processes were in place to enable the State’s needs for children’s services to be identified and addressed; the legislative and regulatory framework, and accompanying enforcement function, were conducive to ensuring children were physically safe, and their emotional wellbeing and developmental needs were adequately addressed; available funds were distributed across the State on a rational and equitable basis; the system was managed and co-ordinated efficiently and effectively; and the quality of care provided within services was of an acceptable standard. Victoria's gaming industry: An insight into the role of the regulator Tabled 25 March 1998: This report documents the results of a performance audit of the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority. The audit examined the manner in which the Authority has discharged its regulatory responsibilities dealing with the State’s gaming industry. (575kb pdf)
