Reports published in 1998
The following reports were tabled in the Victorian State
Parliament by the Auditor-General. They contain the findings of
performance audits and audits of financial statements, as well as a
report on the finances of the state. All reports are prepared under
the authority of the
Audit Act 1994, and are tabled in Parliament.

care and kindergartens: Caring about quality
Tabled 8 April 1998: The overall
objectives of the audit were to determine whether: suitable
planning processes were in place to enable the State’s needs for
children’s services to be identified and addressed; the
legislative and regulatory framework, and accompanying enforcement
function, were conducive to ensuring children were physically safe,
and their emotional wellbeing and developmental needs were
adequately addressed; available funds were distributed across
the State on a rational and equitable basis; the system was
managed and co-ordinated efficiently and effectively; and the
quality of care provided within services was of an acceptable

Victoria's
gaming industry: An insight into the role of the regulator
Tabled 25 March 1998: This report documents the
results of a performance audit of the Victorian Casino and Gaming
Authority. The audit examined the manner in which the Authority has
discharged its regulatory responsibilities dealing with the State’s
gaming
