Reports published in 1999

The following reports were tabled in the Victorian State Parliament by the Auditor-General. They contain the findings of performance audits and audits of financial statements, as well as a report on the finances of the state. All reports are prepared under the authority of the Audit Act 1994, and are tabled in Parliament.

Land use and development in Victoria: The State's planning system Tabled 15 December 1999: The overall objective of the audit of Victoria’s planning system for the development and use of land was to determine whether certain aspects of the statutory planning system had been efficiently and effectively managed. Victoria's prison system: Community protection and prisoner welfare Tabled 27 May 1999: This Report documents the results of a wide-ranging but difficult audit dealing with the State’s prison system. The audit encompassed a period of major reform following the Government’s action in 1994 to provide for participation by the private sector in the construction, operation and management of 3 new prisons.
