Public Sector Procurement: Turning Principles into Practice

Cover of the public sector procurement guide

This better practice guide was tabled on 1 October 2007.
The document on this page is historical only and does not represent current better practice.

This guide, Public Sector Procurement: Turning Principles into Practice, is a practical resource to help agencies assess and improve their procurement activities. The guide provides an overview of the principles underpinning how procurement should be carried out, the phases of the procurement cycle, the aims of each phase and the key steps involved. It also identifies areas of good practice and the important documentation for each procurement phase. The guide draws on the Victorian Auditor-General's Office's environmental scanning, audit planning and performance audit work, and emphasises areas for particular improvement that have been identified in previous audits.
