About Us
The Victorian Auditor-General's Office is a public sector audit
organisation providing auditing services to the Victorian
Parliament and Victorian public sector agencies and
authorities.
The Office assists the Auditor-General, who is an independent
officer of parliament, appointed under legislation to examine and
report to parliament and the community on the efficient and
effective management of public sector resources, and provide
assurance on the financial integrity of Victoria's system of
government.
The Audit Act 1994 sets out the Auditor-General's
functions, mandate and powers. Our audit clients comprise over 600
public sector entities.
Our principal client is parliament, and the Public Accounts and
Estimate Committee is our primary point of contact with
parliament.
We deliver a range of audit reports and publications, the
primary publications being performance audit reports, reports on
the results of our financial statement audits, and newletters. To

We employ around 150 people and we are located in the Melbourne
central business district.
OUR PURPOSE is to improve performance and accountability in the
Victorian public sector.
THE OUTCOME THAT WE SEEK is that parliament, executive
government and agencies have greater confidence in the
accountability and performance of public sector agencies.
