Updated dashboard with financial outcomes of the 2025–26 state Budget
On 20 May 2025, the Victorian Government tabled the 2025–26 state Budget in Parliament, as required by the Financial Management Act 1994.
The Audit Act 1994 requires that the Auditor-General must conduct an independent limited assurance review and provide an opinion on a component of the state Budget – specifically, chapter 1 of Budget Paper 5: Statement of Finances. This chapter, known as the estimated financial statements, outlines the financial forecasts for the general government sector.
To help you understand our role, the work we perform, and the level of assurance our opinion provides on the state Budget, we have developed this fact sheet. The fact sheet also explains which areas of the state Budget fall outside the scope of our review.
In November 2024, we released a dashboard alongside the Auditor-General's Report on the Annual Financial Report of the State of Victoria 2023–24. This dashboard brought together current and historical financial information for the general government sector from previous state Budgets and Annual Financial Reports of the State of Victoria (state AFR).
We have updated this dashboard to include the latest financial outcomes from the 2025–26 state Budget.
This dashboard:
- displays historical and forecast financial data derived from our audit of the AFR and the review of the state Budget
- highlights key insights from our review of the state Budget, our audit of the state AFR and AFR report, along with our independent perspectives on financial sustainability measures, key balances and transactions
- lets you to explore and compare historical, actual and forecast data, offering valuable insights at a glance.
