Updated dashboard with financial outcomes of the 2026–27 state Budget
On 5 May 2026, the Victorian Government tabled the 2026–27 state Budget in Parliament, as required by the Financial Management Act 1994.
Under the Audit Act 1994, the Auditor-General is required to conduct an independent limited assurance review and provide an opinion on a component of the state Budget – specifically, Chapter 1 of Budget Paper 5: Statement of Finances. This chapter, known as the Estimated Financial Statements (EFS), sets out the financial forecasts for the general government sector.
To help you understand our role, the work we perform, and the level of assurance provided by our opinion on the state Budget, we have developed this guidance. It also explains which areas of the state Budget fall outside the scope of our review.
In November 2025, we released a dashboard alongside the Auditor-General's Report on the Annual Financial Report of the State of Victoria 2024–25. This dashboard brings together current and historical financial information for the general government sector from previous state Budgets and Annual Financial Reports of the state of Victoria (the state AFR).
We have updated this dashboard to include the latest financial outcomes from the 2026–27 state Budget.
This dashboard:
- presents historical and forecast financial data derived from our audit of the AFR and the review of the state Budget
- highlights key insights from our review of the state Budget, our audit of the state AFR and the AFR Report, along with our independent perspectives on financial sustainability measures, key balances and transactions
- allows you to explore and compare historical, actual and forecast data, offering valuable insights at a glance.
