This report sets out the results of 2 audits: firstly, the purchase of contaminated land by the Melbourne Port Corporation and secondly, the raising and collection of fees and charges by departments.

This report examines the progress that agencies have made to address recommendations made in 4 performance audits conducted during 2003 and 2004. The 4 audits were: Managing medical equipment in public hospitals (2003), Addressing the needs of Victorian prisoners (2003), Managing emergency demand in public hospitals (2004), Maintaining public housing stock (2004).

The results from the annual attest audits of financial statements and performance statements prepared by public sector entities are summarised for Parliament in 2 reports each year. The first report covers entities with a 30 June balance date, and is generally tabled in the first half of the following year. This second report covers all other entities, and includes the status of audits not previously finalised. It marks the end of the 2006 annual financial audit cycle. The report summarises the results of the financial audits of 135 entities, including the State's universities and technical and further education institutes and their associated entities, as well as the State's alpine resorts and several other small entities.

This report examined how well the current lease arrangements for maintaining the metropolitan, regional and interstate rail infrastructure had contributed to the delivery of reliable train service.

Since the 1990s, the Victorian Government has supported major events to attract tourists from interstate and overseas to increase Melbourne and Victoria's international profile and benefit the state. In the 2006-07 Budget, the government announced that there would be an additional $50.4 million over 4 years for major events. This increased the funding for major events to approximately $55 million per annum plus consumer price index increases over the period. The audit examined the 3 major phases to the major events management cycle: pre-event assessment, funding management, post-event assessment.

This report examined whether the municipal early years plans, Best Start and children's centres initiatives implemented by the Department of Human Services were leading to an increased number of children using maternal and child health centres, and attending kindergarten.
