Overview

The overall objectives of the audit were to examine the management strategies and practices of the National Parks Service (NPS) in order to determine the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of the NPS in managing parks and reserves in Victoria; the ability of the NPS to meet its obligations under the National Parks Act 1975 and in accordance with several key documents such as the Department's Corporate Plan, the NPS Business Plan, the Tourism Victoria Strategic Business Plan and the Government's Policy on Conservation and Land Management; and the benefits to Victoria, from a conservation and tourism perspective, of the parks system currently managed by the NPS.
