Visiting Medical Officer arrangements

The initial objectives of the audit review of Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) arrangements were to assess whether: the administration of these arrangements by public hospitals was consistent with Government policies and guidelines; policies, practices and procedures covering the operation of VMOs had resulted in the economic and efficient provision of medical services by public hospitals; central management procedures established by the Department to monitor the economic and efficient provision of medical services by public hospitals were adequate; appropriate action had been taken by the Department to implement the recommendations included in the EBRC's 1985 Report.
