This annual plan sets out our proposed work program for the 2025–26 financial year.

3. Setting departments up to get value for money

Departments' procurement and reporting processes for using contractors and consultants are in line with the guidelines for professional services and labour hire, the VGPB's procurement framework and FRD 22. 

This means they are set up well to comply with these requirements. However, public transparency about departments' total spending on contractors and consultants could be improved if departments included contractor spending in their annual reports.

Modernising myki

This audit examined if the myki modernisation project for public transport ticketing is on track to deliver a system that will work as expected and achieve value for money.

Timely Payments Performance

In 2021 the Victorian government amended the Fair Payments Policy. Agencies under the amended Policy must pay invoices for contracts under $3 million within 10 business days. We conducted this review to see if agencies were paying on time, and if publicly reported information about payment timeliness was accurate and transparent.
