This report follows up two performance audits we completed in 2012–13 and 2013–14.
Each year we ask agencies to attest to their progress in implementing actions to address previous performance audit recommendations that they accepted. Using these attestations―as well as our assessment of the public interest and materiality of audit topics―we selected two audits to follow up:
- Management of Freshwater Fisheries, 2012–13―examined the Victorian Fisheries Authority’s progress in addressing recommendations directed towards more sustainably managing recreational freshwater fisheries.
- Managing Victoria’s Native Forest Timber Resources, 2013–14―assessed the progress that VicForests, the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) have made in response to recommendations focused on managing native forest timber resources on public land more productively and sustainably.
For this follow up, we examined the extent to which performance issues relating to the original recommendations had been addressed, and whether actions had been timely. We made one recommendation to the Victorian Fisheries Authority, and two recommendations to DELWP.
